Wellcome is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years funding new discoveries in life, health and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.

We are looking for a Participation Officer to join our Community Engagement team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be working with the Community Engagement team within Corporate Affairs, reporting to the Public Participation Lead. We are a team of 12 people with a wide range of skills and experience and work across two core practice areas - Participation and Funding & Partnerships.

What will I be doing?

Community engagement is a vital ingredient in Wellcome’s mission success. It helps us ensure that Wellcome’s work is relevant and has impact with those the research we support is designed to serve You’ll be working with colleagues across the team to support the delivery of participation and community engagement programmes to achieve Wellcome’s health challenge outcomes.

As a Participation Officer, you will:
- Work with colleagues across the team as project support for effective implementation of public participation and community engagement projects from brief to delivery.- Support team delivery management and learning, continuously improving in response to new insights and stakeholder feedback.- Manage processes for how contracts and partnership agreements with new partners are created, working closely with legal, procurement and finance.- Support with financial processes (such as managing budget trackers) for the team.- Assist the Public Participation team in scoping and liaising with potential new partners and suppliers who can help to deliver on our agreed ambitions.- Embed our anti-racist and anti-ableist principles and involve minoritized communities at every stage of the development process.

This role will give you the chance to expand your knowledge of participation and engagement with communities around the world, and to use and improve your delivery management skills.
