CAD-IT have a vacancy for a **Technical Author / Team Lead** to join a friendly and collaborative team who develop, write and deliver technical documentation for a well-known Automotive OEM.

This is a hybrid role, combining **Team Leadership** with **Technical Authoring** to become an integral member of the Technical Content team.

We are interested in **dynamic, engaging individuals **with **leadership qualities** and/or **supervisory experience**, alongside relevant qualifications and/or experience in related **vehicle engineering, electrical, mechanical, diagnostic, body repair or technical documentation fields.**
- **Person Specification**:_
- Experience or confidence in dealing with automotive electrical and/or mechanical systems and other technical information.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of leading or supervising a team;
- _understanding team members’ strengths and weaknesses to support growth and development_
- _providing training and mentoring_
- _attending appraisals and giving constructive feedback_
- _providing direction and guidance to motivate good working practices_
- _conveying the customer’s quality processes to your team_
- Flexible with the ability to multi-task, work proactively, independently and manage multiple projects is essential.
- A knowledge of XML, HTML, Microsoft programmes like Excel, Word, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, CAD modelling software and CMS systems is a distinct advantage.
- The ability to conduct yourself professionally in a customer facing environment, and to liaise confidently with engineers and senior management is important.
- Adaptable with a proactive approach to work, you should be pragmatic, imaginative and have the ability to think laterally in solving problems and delivering solutions.
- Technical Authoring competence or experience would be beneficial - _**we will provide full training on all Technical Authoring software**_

**Role Details**:
This role is predominantly focused on **Technical Authoring **for **2D/3D CAD illustrated workshop manuals and/or process engineering** whilst supporting as a **Team Lead** for the **Text and illustration-based publications and Body and mechanical Serviceability Evaluation and Repair Processes workstreams.**
- Responsible for the scoping of new requests and providing solutions to simple and complex tasks.
- Ensuring source data is robust so that work can start immediately whilst highlighting data quality issues.
- Provide input towards Statement of Work (SoW) development when required.
- Responsible for creating project timing.

**Execution & Delivery**:

- Responsible for project kick offs, assigning workload, tracking status of the projects and delivering to a high standard against timing plans.
- Maintaining on time delivery standards and successful project close offs.
- Develop status reports and provide gateway deliverable status updates

**Quality**:

- Accountable for assuring that technical content is authored to set specifications and standards.
- Drive quality for Right-First-Time and On-Time deliverables, and exceeding customer expectations.
- Finding opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Compliant with project quality records.
- The author must undertake R&D, confirm requirements, interrogate technical data, drawings, diagrams, CAD models and other information.
- Liaise with engineers to confirm details and achieve sign-off, and liaise with customer representatives to manage project deadlines/expectations.
