We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated professionals to join the Macmillan Cancer Navigator Service, a telephone based support service providing a single point of access for all cancer patients under the care of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, including their family and external healthcare providers. You will be part of a team of 7 Navigators, supported by the Macmillan Patient Support Supervisor.

You will have an opportunity to make a real difference to the experience of cancer patients and their families while enhancing your support and communication skills. This is a unique role that provides direct telephone contact with our patients as well as the chance to liaise with both clinical and administrative teams internally and externally.

We are advertising 1x substantive role.

As a Macmillan Navigator you will have direct contact with cancer patients, family and external healthcare professionals over the phone; a pivotal role in helping to ensure that all cancer patients of the Trust receive high quality empathetic care and support. You will be responsible for establishing their concerns and providing support by problem-solving, signposting, or creating space for callers to voice their experience. You will have Supervisory support and work closely with the Clinical Specialist Nurse Teams. It is a highly varied and skilled role, with attention to boundaries vital. Further support is available for complex queries from the supervisor and if the question is of a clinical nature with further input needed from the specialist team, they will book a telephone appointment for the Clinical Nurse Specialist to call back the patient or their relative. The navigator service works closely with the clinical teams to ensure they can provide the right support for patients and their families.
