**The Role**
The Chief Operating Officer is a key member of the Executive Team and Trust Board which is responsible for ensuring the overall strategic direction, performance and success of the Trust. The post holder is responsible for the operational leadership and performanceof operations across the Trust and will contribute to the development and implementation of corporate strategies, policies and business plans.
They will demonstrate excellent leadership and promote a culture that supports, recruits and nurtures. This includes enabling diversity and inclusion in all its forms, a culture of learning and improvement and an ability to deliver workforce innovation.
As a corporate Board member the post holder will have responsibilities outside the Chief Operating Officer portfolio contributing to the wider clinical, finance, workforce, strategy, system and risk management agenda.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide professional leadership throughout the Trust to the Operations workforce and strives for excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient services.
- Perform a key role in shaping the policies and strategies for developing a continuous improvement culture as regards services throughout the Trust in order to ensure high quality, safe health care services for our patients.
- Work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Nursing and Quality Officer to co-ordinate maintain and improve operational services to ensure that the Trust meets its performance targets and clinical standards obligations.
- Deliver against the Trust’s equality, diversity and inclusion strategy ensuring there is a focus on inclusivity for all our people and patients.
**Education**
- Masters of Business or Public Administration (or equivalent qualification or experience)
**Knowledge, Experience and Skills**
- Experienced Director - substantial demonstrable experience of working as Board-level Director
- The Change Agent - substantial demonstrable experience of delivering transformative and cultural change
- The Strategist - being able to work with a high tolerance for ambiguity and the capacity to quickly adapt to complexity
- The Technology Advocate - capacity to understand and embrace new technology to redefine business models, patient pathways and experience.
