**The Role**

The Finance & Billing Supervisor acts as the liaison between the Legal and Estate Agency departments and our Finance department. The Finance & Billing Supervisor has two core sides to their role:

- Oversight of our Book Keeping and accounts team to ensure compliance with extensive Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules, ensuring that Financial documents are produced accurately and timely, and we remain within our contractual obligations to our suppliers and other 3rd parties.
- Oversight of our Cashroom department to ensure Operational effectiveness, adherence to strict SLAs and compliant delivery of payment processing services to our Legal department.

The Finance & Billing Supervisor forms part of the Business Support team, working alongside other Managers including the firms Practice Manager, AML Compliance Manager and our Policy and Oversight Manager

**Responsibilities**

The role encompasses a number of areas of finance that are specific to this busy legal practice, including:

- Assisting the Director of Risk & Legal Operations and Cashroom partner by being the first point of contact for transactional finance related queries
- Managing the finance function to ensure each team operates successfully and achieves departmental targets;
- Working with the Director of Risk & Legal Operations to ensure continuous compliance with Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules;
- Assist with developing and adapting the Cashroom and business accounting and invoicing processes;
- Provide guidance and training to members of the conveyancing department about Cashroom and financial compliance matters;
- Audit and ensure continued compliance with internal Anti-Money Laundering and Risk Assessment Policies, Law Society of Scotland rules and general AML legislation;
- Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Cashroom Partner

**Requirements**:
**Essential qualities include**:

- Superb written and spoken English skills;
- Breadth of general accounting experience;
- Ability to translate complex accounting and cashroom concepts into plain English to explain issues to senior management;
- Experience of managing a team;
- Experience of supplier management
- Excellent numeracy skills;
- Outstanding attention to detail;
- A positive attitude and great team working skills

**Desirable qualifications include**:

- Legal Cashiering or financial accounts experience
- Degree Qualification in Accountancy and Finance or similar;
- Experience of using Xero or similar accountancy software;
- SOLAS qualification;
- Broad experience of legal and general accounting software systems

**Remuneration**

Starting salary is between £35,000 to £45,000 per annum depending on experience.
