Gcp Digital Communications Officer

Cambridge, United Kingdom Cambridgeshire County Council Full time

About the role
The digital communications officer will support the digital communications manager, the communications team, and broader Greater Cambridge Partnership, in the promotion, marketing and communication of high profile, multi-million pounds, with a focus on digital media channels and resources.

The role will work on the delivery of a digital media strategy to proactively and reactively engage with our audiences, to ensure stakeholders are informed and educated on the projects being delivered, and have opportunities to voice opinions and be heard.

This is a hybrid role, with the office base in Cambridge.

What will you be doing?
It’s a typical Monday morning, and after sharing an update on the weekend’s media coverage with the team, you head to one of our projects in the city to carry out an informal video interview with one of our stakeholders.

After a constructive chat with them, you had back to the office to download and edit together the footage. Once the video’s complete and you’ve added in relevant photos and graphics, you share it with the team, who include it in newsletters and social media posts. You review the project’s webpage, updating the copy and adding in your video.

In the afternoon, you meet up with a colleague responsible for our work on skills and apprenticeships. Something they’re working on will need publicity, so you develop some ideas together, and then afterwards set to work creating some vibrant, engaging social media content.

About you
Maybe you studied photography or film, have worked with websites, or love creating social media content. A background in local government or transport isn’t essential: an appetite to learn new things is. You’ll be flexible, motivated, responsive, and able to work under your own initiative, with strong attention to detail.

More broadly, we’re looking for someone who wants to develop a career in digital communications as part of our friendly, welcoming communications team, supporting the Greater Cambridge Partnership deliver projects which will improve the lives of people living, working, studying, and playing in and around the city.
