The inter-professional School of Medical and Health Sciences which sits within the College of Human Sciences is the prime focus for medical, health and care education and research at Bangor University. The School offers a career-spanning portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and short courses for health and care and allied professionals. The School comprises over 200 staff, delivering to more than 1300 students from across the health and medical professions. The School’s portfolio of professional programmes continues to expand, with new programmes in Dental Hygiene and Pharmacology commencing soon, with Pharmacy currently in development. We hold an Athena Swan Bronze award in recognition of our commitment to and progress towards gender equality within the University's policies, practices, and culture.

Overview

The School of Medical and Health Sciences is the University’s main focus for education to support the health and care professional workforce across North Wales and beyond. The School has an excellent research portfolio and hosts a fully accredited Clinical Trials Unit, with research centres or clusters for health economics, primary care, evidence synthesis, improvement, service user perspectives, rehabilitation, and bilingual aspects of healthcare. We pay attention to demonstrating the links between our research and teaching activities, and in providing our students with excellent learning experiences that equip them with the ability to succeed in their professional careers.

Purpose of the Job

**Responsibilities**:
Teaching duties will include:

- Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes.-
- Support students with proactive engagement in learning and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work.- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.- Act as personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing advice, guidance and support.- Actively engage in strategic and project-related activities that maximise student engagement, and that mitigate the risks of attrition.- Undertake role of module coordinator and/or contribute to module co-ordination procedures (if module co-ordinator).- Undertake other administrative duties and responsibilities (e.g. membership of School boards and task groups, addressing/supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student experience, contributing to community engagement).- To contribute to the promotion and external profile of the School.- Contribute to the marketing of the programme by participating in School and College link activities and other marketing initiatives.- Keep abreast of new professional, educational and related social, economic and technological developments.- Maintain and develop scholarly activities in line with University and College strategies.- Publish evidence of scholarship related to learning and teaching in books, articles and/or papers in academic journals.- Take an active role in mentoring less experienced members of staff within the College/School (Grade 8).Administrative and Wider Contribution duties will include:

- Participate in the student recruitment and induction procedures (e.g. School and University Open Days).- Contribute to the School's management, and participate in the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (e.g. organisation of exams).Other
