The Property Services department at the Royal College of Physicians has anexciting opportunity for a Workplace Services Assistant / Handyperson to join their team in London. This opportunity is in our 95,000 ft² grade 1 listed estate in Regent’s Park London.

The role of the Workplace Assistant / Handyperson involves being part of a busy property team supporting building occupants for the Royal College of Physicians premises and ensuring the workplace remains safe, compliant, fit for purpose and flexible to meet changing demands through delivering an excellent customer experience by carrying out various repair and maintenance activities as well as porterage, mail, and minor moves.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- To ensure a high standard of customer experience is maintained within the premises by carrying out minor repairs and maintenance activities in the Liverpool and London estates depending on location.
- Supporting the Workplace team carrying out porterage, mail, collection, and goods in activities.
- Be a main building user/sub-tenant/contractor/supplier and landlord liaison point on behalf of the RCP particularly around support services including access control, event support, waste management, service issue resolution and maintenance requests.
- To carry out regular health and safety and building checks to identify maintenance and repair issues and report/ resolve them in conjunction with the Property team, landlord or service provider/contractors.
- Support the Workplace Manager to ensure the efficient use of space within the building including minor office moves, space planning activities, quarterly occupancy surveys and liaison with other departments i.e., IT to ensure moves are undertaken efficiently.
- To ensure the estate retains high level of environmental standards and best practice and as such will be actively involved in ensuring the RCP retains its highly valued ISO14001 and WELL Platinum accreditation. This includes supporting waste and recycling activities.

**About you**

We are looking for a practical and highly organised individual with a commitment to quality and excellent customer service who has experience in a similar role. You will need a good level of skills in general building work including plumbing, minor electrical, decorating or joinery. Have a good level of IT competency and the ability to liaise and communicate confidently with a range of people at all levels. Experience of working to deadlines, using your initiative, and working flexibly as a member of a busy team are also essential qualities.

**About the Property Services Department**

The Property Services Department has evolved in recent years in line with the changing face of modern estates management and have successfully introduced working practices including new ways of working integrating the latest communications technology and space management to improve workplace efficiency. The executive board of the RCP are committed to ensuring a programme of continued investment in the estates infrastructure as well as introducing modern working environments for employees. The Property team are committed to delivering a long-term estates strategy to provide an attractive and modern environment in London and Liverpool.

With a grade 1 listed estate footprint in London coupled with the exciting new project recently opened in Liverpool, the Property department process a high volume of customer service requests per week and manage numerous small works, major and minor projects to ensure the built environment remains safe, compliant, fit for purpose. The team takes a flexible approach in order to meet changing stakeholder demands. The department has also pioneered new flexible working processes including flexible, hybrid working.
