The Bereavement Office, working closely with the Medical Examiner’s Office, is responsible for the after-death administration service for adult deaths in the central Bristol hospitals at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. An opportunity has arisen to appoint a new member to the team.

We are seeking to appoint a compassionate and motivated individual to join our small but busy team. You will need the ability to assimilate knowledge quickly and to work well alongside colleagues in delivering and contributing to the development of the Trust administrative bereavement service. You will need a confident telephone manner, excellent organisational and computer skills, and a compassionate and empathetic manner for dealing with grieving families at a sensitive time following the death of a patient.

Working under the direction of the Bereavement Office Supervisor, and alongside colleagues, you will be expected to liaise with a range of professional staff both inside and outside the organisation to oversee the completion of the administrative processes. This will include liaising with the Medical Examiner Office, doctors, ward staff, the coroner’s office, funeral directors, and bereaved families.

**The post holder is responsible for**:

- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of certification following the death of a patient
- Providing professional and compassionate bereavement services for the families and friends of deceased patients
- Assisting and advising Trust staff regarding matters relating to the death of a patient and the provision of bereavement services
