Collections & House Officer

Do you have a proven track record of helping to ensure the preservation and presentation of collections, sharing your work with visitors and bringing the history of collections to life, then please read on.
**Hours**:11.25 hours per week. These will vary from week to week depending on business need, sometimes you may work a shorter day, other days a longer one. We are flexible and we'll always try to accommodate other commitments where possible. Please talk to us about the hours that you can do.
**Salary**:FTE £22,152pa Actual £6,645pa
**Contract**:Fixed term until January 2025

What it's like to work here:Visiting the Hardman’s House it’s quite easy to see the contrasting sides of this special place: the ordered studio business rooms and the cluttered, cramped living quarters of the renowned portrait photographer Edward Chambré Hardman and his wife Margaret Hardman. They lived and worked here for 40 years, employing a meticulous approach to their profession, and keeping everything.
The business focused on professional studio portraits but their real love was for vivid landscape and capturing contemporary life in Liverpool and wider afield. Some of their huge collection of photographs is on display in the house, along with the equipment they used to take and develop the iconic images.
What you'll be doing:You’ll support the daily opening of the house, ensuring appropriate resources are in place to be able to provide a consistently excellent service for our visitors. Working with the Senior Collections and House Officer and wider portfolio, you'll supervise a volunteer team and have responsibility for delivering collections care routines including preventive conservation, the annual deep clean and collections inventory within the house. You’ll contribute to Duty Management ensuring best practice with contractors and when the house is open maintain operations, support volunteer room guides and enjoy telling visitors about our fascinating history.
