**Job Purpose**-We welcome applicants with expertise in any area of Scottish, British or UK politics. This could include but need not be limited to, a focus on British or Scottish parties & institutions, political behaviour, political communication, public policy, politics of marginalised groups (e.g. ethnic minority, LGBTQ+, women, working class, etc.) and social justice as well as research that explicitly considers British or Scottish politics in a comparative perspective.
We encourage applicants with social scientific expertise and a developing international reputation in the study of the Politics of the UK. The postholder will play a role in developing capacity and securing grant income, supporting colleagues, building networks and delivering positive social change through impact on policy and practice.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities** -4. Contribute to the on-going development and design of the curriculum in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment in the discipline and/or profession.
5. Participate fully in examination and other assessment processes, as appropriate, using a variety of methods and techniques and to provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning.
6. Supervise individual student projects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and to contribute to the supervision and training of postgraduate research students, as appropriate, to ensure their effective development.
8. Engage in professional development as appropriate.
9. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan - World Changers Together.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or equivalent in Politics, International Relations a professional and/or teaching experience in a similar or related role.

**For Appointment at Grade 8, in addition to the above**:

A2: Membership of relevant Professional Society, if appropriate.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**

**Essential**:

C1: Research expertise and specialist knowledge of the Politics of the UK.
C2: Developing track record of research outputs compatible with enhancing the School’s research profile in accordance with School objectives.
C3: Good communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels within the Subject, School, College, University, and beyond, in the academic, policy and practitioner communities.
C4: Engagement with the current and future priorities of School and College strategies, aims and ambitions.
C5: Ability to lead and deliver high quality and innovative University teaching, including assessment and curriculum development.

**For Appointment at Grade 8, in addition the above**:

C6: Ability to contribute to broader leadership and management activities along with an awareness of current and future priorities of the University/College/School/Service.


**Desirable**
D1: Record of fostering inclusion, equality and diversity within a University community, the curriculum, or the discipline appropriate to career stage.

Salary will be Grade 7/8, £39,347 - £44,263 / £48,350 - £56,021 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
