**About the Role**:
As an Operational Scheduling Assistant - Substations, you will be required to live within the Kent, Sussex or Hampshire areas as you will join our Southeast zone covering 35 substations spanning Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. You’ll need to be flexible for occasional travel to Warwick to attend team and planning meetings and you’ll have the flexibility to work from home for up to 3 days per week dependent on the needs of the business and the requirement to be onsite. The Operational Scheduling Assistant - Substations will support the Operational Planning team to optimise, prioritise, resource and schedule the operational plan within current year timescales whilst ensuring all work to be delivered is scheduled and assigned as appropriate to ensure area targets are met.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in managing a plan for all operational, unlicensed and capital works within a specified zone
- Focus on the operational 0-1-year timescales
- Assist the Planning Engineer with all planning changes within 0-1-year timescales
- Ensure contact with Operations Managers, Substation Supervisory Engineers and Project Leaders
- Ensure all work is scheduled and assigned in line with delivery plans
- Ensure all outage, non-outage and routines are scheduled out
- Assist with resource plan management
- Ensure all TBA outage data is moved accordingly
- Identify opportunities for time efficient bundling outage and non-outage work
- Support the Planning Assistant with management of the ‘Planning Action’ work
- Provide minute taking as required for planning meetings
- Raise work orders (DEF01, DEF02, DEF03, TL’s, EMI’s & OESB’s)
- Other duties ensuring operational compliance, safety and delivery within Substations/Overhead Lines

**Essential**:

- A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK
- An Engineering or Planning level 3 qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship
- Limited experience gained from a scheduling role where you have supported wider planning functionality through system driven processes OR gained from an on the tools engineering role within National Grid where you have supported planning activities

**Desirable**:

- Experience of managing and prioritising conflicts in real time
- Experience of managing and explaining complex issues to resolution
- Experience of outage and none outage scheduling
