Gardening Assistant

This is an exciting role where you will be working side by side with the head gardener in beautiful gardens and country houses in the Henfield area. The role involves maintaining gardens to the highest standard whilst upkeeping excellent, professional relationships with clients.
We are looking for motivated individuals with a real interest in gardening, excellent social skills and experience with plants and use of gardening tools. The principal focus of this role will be the maintenance of the plant and flower beds at each property, keeping the plants healthy and looking their best. Day to day work involves:
- Planting, watering and pruning flowers, shrubs and trees
- Weeding, edging and mulching garden beds to maintain a clean and tidy appearance
- Operating hand tools, including shovels, rakes, and pruning shears
- Use of power tools, such as hedge trimmers and leaf blowers (note, mowing is not required)
- Maintainence of irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants
- Monitoring of plant health to identify any signs of disease or pest infestation
- Assisting with the installation of new plants and landscaping features
Note that this role mainly involves hand tools although power tools may be required in some cases.
The work follows a fornightly routine, usually where each full day is spent at a single property. You will work in stunning properties, often with beautiful surrounding landscapes and views of the South Downs. Your day starts at 7.30am at the yard to gather tools ready for the day, with work on the properties from 8am - 4.30pm with a half hour lunch break included.
