We are offering an exciting opportunity for dynamic, ambitious, and motivated Highly Specialist Systemic & Family Psychotherapist to join West London NHS Trust CAMHS Tri-borough Eating Disorders Service.

We are a dynamic group of family therapists in the West London NHS Trust and hold meetings both at a local level and at a tri-borough level where you have the opportunity to meet other family therapists. Systemic training and further systemic development is encouraged and supported. You will also contribute to the development of the Team and you will have the opportunity to be involved in service development, audit, research, supervision and quality of practice improvement projects.

We offer a range of in house and external training opportunities e.g. Narrative therapy; NVR; CYP-IAPT. You will also be offered specialist eating disorder treatment training, (e.g. FT-AN, FT-BN, MFT).

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of mental health nurses, medical doctors, Psychiatrist, Eating Disorders Practitioners, Dieticians, Mental Health Support Workers, Occupational Therapist and other family therapist. We are a close and supportive team with regular MDT meetings and reflective groups.

As a Highly Specialist Systemic Family Psychotherapist you will also work as an autonomous clinician to contribute to mental health assessments, specialist diagnostic assessments of children and young people with eating disorder and comorbid complex mental health presentations. The assessment process is also multi-disciplinary and you will have many opportunities to work together with the other professionals in the team

You will document the outcome of these assessments, providing formulation, diagnosis, and recommendations for interventions. Primarily, you will offer a range of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions appropriate for children, young people and families attending the Service. You will also address areas of risk and safety management in a systemic way. You will also participate in the team’s duty rota. Being a senior member of the team, you will also have opportunities to contribute to the development of the team and its systemic practice in different ways.

We are looking for an experienced family therapist with the ability to work creatively with young people, families and promote systemic ideas to the wider system.

1. The post holder will adopt a flexible approach to working with young people, their families and networks, taking account of changing needs during the course of intervention and attending to issues of risk.
2. The post holder will be part of a duty system and undertake highly specialist assessments on behalf of the multidisciplinary team, incorporating different models of understanding of the young person’s difficulties and reflecting the team’s multi-modal approach to intervention.
3. To take case manager responsibility in the treatment of complex cases, attending to risk and arranging network/professional reviews, where clinically appropriate. This will include liaison with other appropriate services and managing planned transitions, including admissions into Inpatient, when required.
4. Where indicated, the post holder will work individually with young people, using a systemic approach, and draw on other models as appropriate.
5. The post holder will work independently and on their own initiative, co-ordinating with the multidisciplinary team and the Consultant Team Lead as appropriate and recognising when to draw on the resources of other disciplines.
6. To formulate and implement plans for the treatment of eating disorders in line with research findings and evidence-based practice.
