Business in Focus is the lead delivery partner in Enterprise Partnership Cymru (EPC), along with Menter Môn, M-SParc and an eco-system of support agencies across Wales. EPC has won the contract to deliver the Business Wales service on behalf of the Welsh Government, providing advice and support to entrepreneurs pan-Wales. The Business Development and Growth Service focuses on providing a wide range of advice to growing businesses through a variety of means including digital, telephone and face to face support. EPC was successful in their bid to deliver both Business Wales advice services; Entrepreneurship and Start-up Service and Business Development and Growth Service.
- **Responsibilities**_
1. Work with BDG managers to develop appropriate budgets and forecasts.
2. Review budget proposals for accuracy and affordability.
3. Present recommendations for funding requests to Head of Finance & Governance, contract stakeholders as well as managers within Business in Focus.
4. Review financial performance of BDG contract and its projects. Including monitoring specific budget lines and proposing adjustments to utilise the contract funding effectively. Liaise with BW and Business in Focus Management Teams as necessary.
5. Monitor contract expenditure and coordinate related documentation, e.g. purchase orders. Collate financial data to provide monthly financial management information and reports, providing trend analysis and variance reports for Head of Finance & Governance and Head of BDG.
6. Keep Delivery and Contract Managers appraised of status and availability of funds.
7. Work with Finance Team to provide accrual, prepayment and cashflow information. Build understanding of key financial processes and promote sound practices within BW-BDG.
8. Work with Head of Finance & Governance to develop risk-based approach for contract financial management. Subsequently to identify risks, escalating issues as appropriate to Head of BDG and Head of Finance and Governance.
9. Ensure clear communication of financial matters to BDG managers. Monitor and review financial management information regularly and agree action plans to maintain on/return to target.
10. Support BW colleagues in answering their financial queries, providing ad hoc reports and improving reporting procedures.
11. Support Head of Finance and Governance in producing timely and accurate BDG contract management information for the completion of periodic returns.
12. Regularly work with internal and external senior level stakeholders, as required. Ensure there is a collaborative approach with BW Management Teams, the wider Business Wales service, as well as Business in Focus Management Team, as appropriate.
13. Deliver to a high standard of customer service in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
14. Act as a role model and seek to lead and motivate the team and others, promoting collaborative working and maintaining high levels of energy and motivation.
15. Support the Head of BDG by identifying and making recommendations for continuous improvement, e.g. content, procedures, systems of work. Proactively share intelligence information with management to develop engagement, reach and service provision.
16. Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Management Team of Business Wales.

Relevant UK professional accounting qualification OR qualified through extensive experience OR part-qualified (Desirable)
