- Job Advert DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Officer to join our team on a fixed term basis for approximately16 months.

The role will require you to deliver a professional HR Service with pace, precision and passion in which you will be supported, whilst working as part of a proactive, responsive and friendly HR team. You will provide clear, consistent and outcome focussed advice, guidance, support and coaching to managers on a comprehensive range of HR activities, in line with agreed policies and procedures, best practice, professional standards, and legal requirements.

We are looking for a highly motivated and hard-working individual to take on the role. You’ll be required to take on many tasks which will include (but are not limited to):

- Provide HR advice and guidance to management within a designated service area on a range of HR activity including conditions of service, policies and procedures and employee relations to enable compliance, effectively manage and mitigate risk, and deliver positive outcomes that support Force objectives.
- Provide HR advisory input into service area change projects, change management programmes and working groups. Work collaboratively with the ER Manager to implement organisational change and developments, including re-structures, redeployment, redundancy situations, in order to deliver outcomes in line with organisational aims and objectives.
- Undertake HR Project work as required to further enhance the service offer.
- Work proactively with service area management teams to support continuous improvement and compliance in the management and monitoring of attendance and performance.
- Support the development and maintenance of a performance culture within the service area, by advising and guiding managers through relevant policies and procedures and monitoring the completion and quality of PDR’s/UPP’s.
- Monitor attendance levels within services to ensure that short and long term absence is effectively and consistently managed through processes. Liaise with managers and OHU to negotiate and agree recuperative duties, restricted duties, and reasonable adjustments, attending case reviews as necessary.
- Develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with key stakeholders including operational managers, HR colleagues, unions and staff associations to deliver positive outcomes for individuals, services and the Force.
- Establish professional credibility with managers to enable them to understand their people management responsibilities and to develop an understanding of the service area objectives and priorities to enable HR to offer a value added service with people at the centre.
- Regularly contribute to the HR team/service as a whole, recommending improvements to systems, procedures and practice to improve efficiency in the department and ensure the credibility of HR’s role in the organisation.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to managers on day to day staffing issues to enhance people management capability and effectiveness and improve employee relations
- Actively promote and embed equality, diversity and inclusion and health, safety and welfare in all areas of HR service delivery.

On commencing this role you will shadow an experienced HR Officer and receive on the job training and an induction into the variety of HR duties in a policing environment.
