We have an exciting opportunity for a **M**ulti-Skilled Operative** to join our team based at the Hornsey Street Waste Transfer Station in Islington.

LondonEnergy Ltd operates the second largest waste management contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London’s waste every year.

**Purpose of the role**
- To control traffic management within the tipping hall, to operate mobile plant within the area, to inspect, sort loads, waste upon reception and ensure the working area is kept clean at all times.
- To ensure all weighbridge transactions are accurately recorded utilising the electronic audit system or manually in the event of systems failure.
- To operate static and mobile plant in the loading of bulk waste vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.

**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities**
- Safely operate mobile plant machinery to transfer material, load hoppers, and lorries.
- Identify and report potential hazards to the Line Manager.
- Conduct waste inspection checks and report any non-conforming waste.
- Assist Supervisors in traffic control within the tipping hall and other designated areas.
- Ensure timely and accurate weighbridge transactions.
- Monitor traffic movements and report any violations of site/company procedures.
- Manage non-conforming waste deliveries according to legislative requirements.
- Control traffic movements in the Transport Yard.
- Direct bulk vehicles when moving onto compactors.
- Off-load excess tonnage prior to weighing using mobile plant machinery.
- Deal with non-conforming waste according to company procedures.
- Perform daily routine maintenance checks on plant machinery and report defects.
- Operate the electronic weighbridge system and automatic barrier system.
- Operate manual override during weighbridge system malfunctions.
- Monitor CCTV system for breakdowns and emergencies.
- Collect, record, and reconcile customer payments from weighbridge transactions.
- Accurately record non-conforming waste and waste deliveries.
- Maintain the site log book/diary, noting vehicle irregularities and customer altercations.
- Prepare accurate summary reports as necessary.
- Contain and dispose of spillages to keep the tipping/transport yard area clean.
- Regularly clean the working area and other designated areas using appropriate tools and equipment.

**Requirements**:

- **You must be able to work a 10 week rotating shift pattern which includes day and evening shifts (with the earliest start time of 06:00 and latest finishing time of 23:45). Shifts will be Monday to Sunday including bank holidays totaling 39 hours per week (on average).**:

- Previous experience of working in a Waste Operations environment is desirable.
- Mobile Plant Access licence is desirable
- Previous experience of traffic control would be desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills particularly in dealing with the public is essential.
- Great communication skills
- Great team player
- Strong IT skills and a competent user of Microsoft packages.
- Strong Health and Safety knowledge/awareness
