We are looking for a dynamic, adaptable and forward-thinking individual to join the team and assist with the management of the theatre lists and anaesthetist rotas.

Anaesthetists are an essential part of a Theatre multi-disciplinary team, most patients undergoing some sort of surgery require the assistance and support of an anaesthetist. So ensuring their rotas and duties are covered is equally essential.

You will join the Theatre administrative team, working across both Preston and Chorley hospitals to provide a high level of patient care and support to the entire MDT.

As the Anaesthetic Staffing Rota Coordinator, you will be working alongside a team of experienced consultants, trainee consultants, and the Theatre and Anaesthetic management team to deliver excellent and efficient patient care.

This post would be ideal for someone looking to work in an established but developing service, supporting the Theatre & Anaesthetic team throughout.

You will support the delivery of rotas and staffing to an agreed level, providing accurate timetables and on-call rotas for anaesthetic staff.

You will be responsible for accurately recording and acting upon planned and unplanned absences, such as leave or sickness and updating the CLW anaesthetist rostering system for the Directorate.

You will also be required to have responsibilities within the team for allocation of and management of Extra Duty Payment or Waiting List Initiative sessions when required.

You will be required to communicate with a wide range of disciplines, and possess an aptitude for negotiation and persuasion.

- To aid the management team in guiding and supporting staff to sustain high levels of service efficiency and effectiveness.
- To communicate rota alterations clearly and in a timely manner.
- To foster strong working relationships across medical, nursing and admin team.
- Record and monitor, electronically and manually, all anaesthetic staff leave such as annual leave, study leave, professional leave, sick leave in accordance Trust policies and procedures.
- Manage the CLW system ensuring all clinical activities are backfilled due to leave or on-call.
- Provide an effective drop-in anaesthetic manpower information service for the Directorate’s anaesthetist staff, across sites.
- Produce and distribute rotas for all grades of anaesthetic staff.
- Maintain effective communication channels across sites, linking in with key departments and health professionals.
- Provide assistance with the local induction of newly appointed anaesthetic staff.
- Process extra duty claims for the anaesthetist staff.
- Record and report on locum expenditure to the Management Team on a regular basis.
- Cooperate with other members of the management and clinical team to ensure that there is consistent and equitable approach to Trust policies and directorate objectives.
- To provide induction and ‘on-the-job training for newly appointed clerical staff.
- Undertake continuous professional development, seeking opportunities to enhance skills that can be identified via a Personal Development Plan.
- Conform to the Trust policies, procedures and regulations.
- Assist the management team as regards risk management issues
- General duty of care for Health & safety and in the normal course of the role.
- Attend mandatory and other training on an annual basis or as required in the Trust’s Risk Management Training Needs Analysis.
- To use and maintain resources efficiently and effectively.
- Pre-approve internal and external locum payments.
- Raise and process invoices in a timely manner in line with Trust’s Standing Financial Instructions.
- Adhere to Trusts policy on equality and diversity issues and to work with colleagues to embed this culture within the organisation.
