To provide leadership to a newly formed Bed Management Team across NSFT whilst working with internal and external system partners to ensure timely access to inpatient beds. The job role supports both Norfolk and Suffolk clinical bed managers.

The Bed Management Lead is responsible for the operational and clinical management of the Bed Management Teams within NSFT and working closely with the Discharge Pathway Lead. This is primarily the Clinical Bed Managers for adult and older adult services across Norfolk and Suffolk with shared management responsibility of administrative staff.
- Lead the operational management and the service delivery within the Bed Management Team.
- Support the Operational Flow and Capacity lead with oversight of adult acute and adult PICU Out of Area Placements.
- Promote a values-based culture and ensure that each service area adopts an open, collaborative service user focused approach
- Provide leadership to the teams and ensure that managerial supervision, the appraisal process and clinical supervision are being delivered regularly and effectively in line with Trust policy and procedure.
- Establish clear governance procedures within the Teams to ensure good communication, learning and best practice is established.
- Work with the Discharge Lead, using the Trusts PowerBI reports, to monitor internal and out of area length of stays highlighting these to relevant clinical teams and Operational Flow and Capacity lead for action.
- Provide a point of escalation for system partners in relation to individuals requiring admission and support clinical teams to problem solve challenges with patient flow.
- Offer advice and guidance to bed managers, AMHPs and other clinical teams regarding appropriate placements and providers should alternatives to NSFT be identified as meeting a service user needs.

Ensure tasks and responsibilities are effectively, fairly and evenly distributed within the teams’ so that effective and responsive care is provided for service users and carers

Contribute to Trust wide or external projects and initiatives as required and in agreement with the Operational Flow and Capacity Lead.

Use data and information to develop an in depth understanding of resources, costs and activity and use this to improve performance of each team
