Are you looking for an exciting, varied and challenging new role? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Receptionists to support our bustling and friendly Emergency Department at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.You will work as part of a team to help improve patient experience and quality of care within the Emergency Department. You will be working in both a front line capacity and should have the ability to interact with patients and staff on a daily basis in an efficient and friendly way, staying calm in any situation.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the correct information is recorded using a variety of IT systems, whilst dealing with a variety of queries.

To provide an efficient reception/clerical service for the Unscheduled Care Unit working within the Emergency Department.

To carry out all associated clerical work, including registration of patients, updating patient records, scanning, and patient enquiries.

Communication and close liaison with clinical staff, patients, relatives, other Emergency Service personnel and external agencies is essential to help ensure a proficient service.

To respond to a challenging and changing environment and support clinical staff in maintaining performance standards for the Unscheduled Care Unit.

- Provide a comprehensive and efficient reception service to attendees to the Emergency Department.
- Register patients, make referrals using the Hospital’s IT System, TrakCare.
- To input data entry onto databases as required.

- Analyse and deal with non-clinical problems using own initiative to ensure seamless support in the clinical area
- Provide knowledge and support for staff and colleagues to enable them to perform their own roles to maximum effect.
- To communicate effectively with all callers to the department.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Trust directives.
- Regularly required to deal with distressed patients and their relatives tactfully as well as showing empathy and understanding in dealing with all enquiries.
- To maintain accurate filing systems of all paperwork.
- Take part in performance reviews. Assist with the training and supervision of new colleagues and contribute to the development of efficient working practices.
- To work with clinical staff to ensure department achieves performance standards.
- Responsible outside of normal office hours to maintain the rota to ensure 24 hour reception cover is provided in the event of staff sickness.
- Occasionally handling patient and general public valuable/lost property.
