**About The Service**

The Team will be part of the Planning, Transport and Environment Directorate, of which has a team of professional highway officers, managing and coordinating all road works and events on the Highway. Currently the team has a portfolio that enables cross team working, ensuring the highway is managed efficiently but most importantly safely.

**About the job**
An opportunity has become available for a Team Leader working within the Network and Event Management Section, providing support to the Head of Transportation by leading the team in the delivery of managing the Highway, in accordance with the Highways Act and Events throughout the City of Cardiff.

The post holder will be required to lead the team in a high-pressure environment, managing the network for all Roadworks, Developments and Events that take place in Cardiff. Some of the main requirements of the role will be:
To manage and coordinate the delivery of events across Cardiff, ensuring the city remains at the forefront of major events as the capital of Wales and a leading city for events in the UK. Manage and coordinate the highway in association with works for road purposes, licensing, and enforcement on the Highway to ensure a high quality and effective service, that achieves objectives set by the Directorate.

Lead on highway matters, ensuring the effective implementation of schemes and infrastructure projects and developing a strategic plan to ensure resources are maximised.

The management of budgets for works purposes and events that are within Cardiff’s Network.

To lead the section, identifying areas for improvement and delivering change to improve performance and ensuring all performance targets are met in association to Events, Roadworks, Licensing and Enforcement,

To monitor performance, set measures of success for the team and measure performance against other councils.

To act as Senior Representative for the Council internally and externally. Manage and ensure compliance of legislation and good practice takes place by all Officers throughout the Section.
