**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**POST**:Senior Project Worker(Vale Young Carer’s Projects)
**RESPONSIBLE TO**: Community Manager
**HOURS**:37.5 hoursper week between the hours of 9am - 10pm Monday to Sunday, (flexibility is expected to suit the needs of the project and young people)
**ORGANISATIONAL AIMS**:
1. To initiate, build and maintain purposeful relationships with young people
2. Encourage young people to broaden their horizons to be effective citizens
3. To support young people in their understanding of risk and challenge
4. Support young people to identify and achieve aims so that they may reach their full potential

**JOB PURPOSE**:
You will take an active role in the co-ordination and delivery of Young Carer’s services in the Vale of Glamorgan. You will be responsible for the line management of delegated staff, providing support and coaching, promoting continuous development.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**1. Project Co-ordination. Specific responsibilities**:
a) To assist with the delivery, management and co-ordination of the project team and to undertake all line-management duties of the Vale project reporting back to your Line Manager
b) Identify and assess needs and provide support to young carer’s. Identify where group support is needed, including young carer’s youth clubs, workshops, training and learning will address carer’s needs and plan and deliver such support, working as appropriate with colleagues to maximise outcomes for carer’s
c) To work with schools to identify and support young carer’s, this may include assemblies, attending school events, help to raise awareness of young carer’s in schools
d) Provide a support service to young carer’s across the Vale of Glamorgan working in partnership with the Families First Team and other statutory and voluntary organisations
e) Facilitate 1-2-1 support sessions and group respite activities to young carer’s
f) Take up referrals and work with young people and their families to identify, understand and meet their needs, with an emphasis on positive outcomes
g) Use social media and new technology to ensure young carer’s feel connected and develop a web
- presence to reach out to young people
h) To implement and monitor new developments and collate young carer’s outcomes in line with any contractual requirements
i) To review services and paperwork regularly in partnership with staff, young people and any other stakeholders to identify any areas of improvement
j) To contribute to new developments and collate young peoples and service outcomes in regards to contractual requirements.
l) To work in partnership with all relevant youth work agencies, voluntary and statutory services to improve outcomes for young carer’s.
**2. To have significant input into the performance of the project and organisation. Specific responsibilities**:
a) To work towards funding targets (RBA etc.) ensuring all outcomes are recorded and reported to as required
b) To have input, and work to the organisational and project Aims and Objectives, as well as identifying relevant training for the youth team.
c) To ensure all information regarding youth work delivery is inputted into systems developed such as Charity Log for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
d) To keep records, minutes of meetings, documents and paperwork in an accessible format for the department
e) To report any project related complaints to appropriate management
f) To build and maintain good working relationships with appropriate professionals in voluntary and statutory youth services and to attend relevant meetings as required.
**3. Financial Obligations. Specific responsibilities**:
a) To record any spend on budget spreadsheets, to maintain budgets, with oversight from project manager
b) To promote value for money
**4. To have significant input to the recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management process for all posts in the project. Specific responsibilities**:
a) To participate in the annual review of the Job Descriptions and Person Specifications for designated staff.
b) Line management, supervision and performance management of allocate staff members including outreach workers, sessional youth workers and center based university placements.
c) To participate in relevant aspects of the recruitment process for the project as directed by the HR department
d) To participate in the review of project induction processes
e) To support new staff members of the project to receive a full induction
f) To ensure designated staff in the project have regular supervision, performance reviews and annual work reviews.
