**OFFICE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - 16 hours per week SCP 4 - 7 (£21,189 - £22,369 pro-rata)**

Based in the town of Camborne, an area rich in heritage and well known for its links with Richard Trevithick’s steam carriage and mining past, this is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and forward thinking team.

This is an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative Administration Assistant to work with the Town Clerk and Town Council team to provide accurate and competent administrative support to the team.

You will have experience of working as an administrator and be qualified to GCSE 4 or above or equivalent in English and Maths. You will have good interpersonal skills and a calm approach.

Days of work to be discussed at interview. There will be a minimum requirement to attend 1 evening meeting a month. (Meetings are usually held on a Tuesday and Thursday).

**Responsible to**:
Administrative Support Officer

**Job Purpose**:
To provide administrative and Member support.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- To provide accurate and competent administrative support to the Town Council.
- To assist the Administrative Support Officer in Planning processes.
- To arrange meetings, make bookings for facilities and meeting rooms, send invitations and related paperwork as required.
- To contribute to supporting the Mayor and Deputy Mayor by managing their calendars, responding to invitations and keeping details of engagements on file.
- To maintain safe, secure and effective filing systems.
- To ensure security of all confidential information.
- To maintain accurate and complete records on the Town Council’s registers.
- Support Town Clerk when necessary.
- Supporting the Library Service when necessary.
- To provide a professional, friendly response to enquiries on the telephone and in person.
- To assist in the arrangements for civic events and any other functions that may be organised from time to time.
- To work flexibly within the Camborne Town Council team as required to ensure the needs of the Council are met.
- To attend monthly evening Council and Committee Meetings ; to take and produce accurate, comprehensive minutes written in Plain English. And to attend occasional further evening meetings in the absence of the Committee Support Officer. (Meetings are usually held on Tuesdays or Thursdays).
- To attend Working Party Meetings in working hours to take and produce accurate, comprehensive minutes written in Plain English.
- To assist in the compilation of agendas and accompanying paperwork to meet statutory time limits.

**Educational Qualifications**

4 GCSE’s grade 4 or above including English

Experience in using Microsoft Office Tools

**Skills and Knowledge**
- Good listening, oral and literacy skills
- ICT skills including keyboard skills
- Organising time and working to deadlines
- Knowledge of record keeping and information retrieval and appropriate dissemination of relevant data/documentation
- Knowledge of the respective roles and responsibilities of the members of the Town Council
- Knowledge of local government minuting
- Experience of writing agendas and accurate concise minutes
