As a **Specialist Domestic Abuse Worker** assigned to our Assessing for Domestic Violence in Sexual Health Environments (ADViSE) project, you will help sexual health service staff recognise and respond to their patients affected by domestic violence and abuse (DVA). The project also provides patients with a direct referral into our specialist ADViSE service via our simple, local care pathway. The Specialist Domestic Abuse Worker will facilitate training on the ADViSE model for sexual health clinical leads and associated sexual health professionals.

**The main respnsibilities of the Specialist Domestic Abuse Wokrer will be**:

- Providing training to sexual health clinical leads and associated health professionals;
- Providing support to all internal and external stakeholders;
- Attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings to ensure best outcomes for service users;
- Completing initial assessments of risk and need, devising safety and support plans and liaising with all other appropriate agencies, ensuring a holistic and trauma-informed approach to support for service users;
- Providing service user support to adhere to all national legislation as well as organisational policy and procedure;
- Proactively developing knowledge and skills relevant to the ADViSE model and role, sharing learning and supporting volunteers, staff, students, current and prospective partners in the PTMWA portfolio.
- Inputting accurate and meaningful data to the organisations case management system in a timely manner thus ensuring that reporting to funders is accurate and reflects the true state of the service.
- Effectively manage crisis situations with service users at risk by making appropriate decisions quickly whilst under pressure.
- Maintaining awareness of vulnerable adult and child protection processes, supporting staff to know when and how to report any such safeguarding issues as a matter of urgency.
- Working effectively with other service providers, agencies and specialist services in order to achieve positive outcomes for service users and to raise awareness of domestic abuse issues through support and training for professionals.
- Supporting the organisation to: continuously meet its contractual requirements; defined service standards are maintained; and compliance with all statutory provision, PTMWA policies and procedures and quality standards such as WAFE and Leading Lights.

**To be successful as a Specialist Domestic Abuse Worker you will need to**:

- Have a relevant professional qualification, for example Health and Social Care Level Three or equivalent experience
- Have a formal qualification in gender-based violence e.g. ISAC or IDVA ,or be willing to complete in post
- Have a working knowledge of the civil and criminal justice system, welfare benefits and immigration in relation to DVA and the associated risk of escalated violence to individuals accessing sexual health services
- Have excellent working knowledge of risk assessments, risk management and safety and support planning with individuals accessing sexual health services
- Have recent significant experience of undertaking direct work with vulnerable people including experience of working with people affected by domestic abuse in a 1:1 or group setting
- Have a thorough and demonstrable knowledge of case management systems
- Have a sound working knowledge of the practical, emotional, social and economic barriers to establishing and maintaining engagement with individuals accessing sexual health
