Administration - Patient Records The post-holder is required to maintain both paper and computerised records in accordance with Trust standards. Ensure that data entered onto the Trust systems is accurate. Audio typing of patient information, including the typing of letters. Audio typing of any other correspondence relevant to work undertaken by the specialist nurses.

Filing of information as needed both from staff and patients perspective. Work within guidelines relating to data protection and confidentiality. Deal with any problems in a constructive manner, communicating with relevant staff as necessary. Action requests with regard to the weekly palliative MDT meeting, including closing of lists and distributing these to the team in a timely fashion as well as ensuring cover to facilitate the MDT is organised Administration - General General administrative duties, as required, to include: Typing, photocopying, laminating and faxing of information, including distribution of copies to appropriate destinations.

Accurate filing of information. Presentation of letters for signature. Timely distribution of letters and information, both for Trust and external post. Organise any meetings for the specialty team as appropriate.

Show awareness of the principals of Health and Safety at Work and Manual Handling Guidelines. Adhere to all administration standards. Organise rooms and dates and attend appropriate meetings to prepare agenda and minute take plus circulate minutes to all relevant team members in a timely period. Enter information onto Trust/service databases/spreadsheets in order that data collection can be undertaken for reporting purposes and facilitation of service improvement.

Preparation of patient information. Resource Management The post-holder takes an active role in identifying resource issues and maintaining equipment, including: To be aware of resource issues in the use of equipment and resources, ordering stocks as required. To identify areas of need as required. To be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of equipment relevant to the area of work.

To liaise with relevant managers, where appropriate, to minimise or reduce expenditure Teamwork As a team member, ensure that all functions within the specialty are completed: Maintain close working relationships with colleagues within the specialty. Work closely with clinical teams and other departments within the organisation. To assist the specialist nursing team with the identification of current inpatients both by downloading the vocera referrals daily and by updating the whiteboard as required. To assist the Lead Palliative and EOL Nurse with any duties she deems necessary to fulfil her and her teams role in line with NICE and PEER review which in turn is related to the improvement of service delivery, patient safety and standards.

Attend team meetings at required intervals. The post holder will maintain good working relationships with staff within the Cancer Services Directorate and in other Trust Departments. Excellent Communication skills with all members of the Cancer Services Directorate and other departments across the Trust and bodies external to the Trust. To work closely with the Clinical Psychologist working with the Palliative Care Team in order to organise training and supervision sessions for nurses across the trust, including assisting in the preparation of documents for the sessions.

Key Working Relationships All patients and carers. Information services, Data Quality and IT departments. Primary Care Trusts and other external organisations All members of the Cancer and Diagnostic Directorate plus all other trust staff as appropriate. Standards and Performance or standards and policies.

Ensure data and information both paper and electronic is completed in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. In accordance with the agreed process, ensure data and information is recorded and input into the relevant systems (SystmOne, Medway, e-Track, Anglia ICE and other databases) in an accurate and timely manner Forward Planning In conjunction with the Lead Palliative and EOL Nurse ensure that services are developed. Additional Information Organise and control own workload ensuring deadlines are observed and duties performed efficiently. To develop IT skills as may be required to fulfil the responsibilities of the post.

To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard. Any other duties which may be required in order to facilitate the efficient and effective running of the Specialist Palliative Care Service. Any other duties which may be required to assist the Administrative Team Leader with the efficient and effective running of the Specialist Nursing Service.
