Medical Receptionist

Guildowns is a forward-thinking university-linked, teaching and training NHS GP group practice in Guildford, providing care across four sites to over 25,000 patients. Our aim is to provide a high standard of healthcare to patients with courtesy, friendliness and efficiency.
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate receptionist to join our friendly team, and help us to provide our patients with the best possible care. To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as good attention to detail. Prior experience of working in a busy office or customer service environment is essential.
We have recently introduced a significant change to our appointment system that will improve how the Practice delivers healthcare services to our patients. The main objectives are to enhance the quality of care our patients receive, to ensure that they are given the most appropriate appointment or advice to meet their needs and that this is done in a timely way.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Processing patient queries assigned to the team, including booking, amending and cancelling appointments.
- Greeting patients and visitors to the practice.
- Open up and close the surgery where instructed.
- Undertaking processing of all tasks allocated to the Patient Services Team via Emis and Docman.
- Provide general administrative support to the clinical and management team including scanning, making outbound calls to patients, electronic filing and completing target driven admin work.
**Experience, Qualifications & Skills required**:
- Experience of working in an office or customer service environment
- Excellent communication skills and telephone manner
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Organised and good attention to detail
- Good problem solving skills
- Flexibility - ability to work across all four Guildford sites
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
**Pay will be reviewed upon successful completion of a 6 month probationary period.**
**After a years service with the Practice and after meeting set skills criteria, you will have the opportunity to progress to a Senior Patient Services Team Administrator role, where you will have the chance to take on additional responsibilities and pay will be reviewed.**
Full time - 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday, no weekend or bank holiday work.
Rota basis - 8.00am - 4.00pm or 10.30am - 6.30pm.
