**Applications are invited from Substantive Police Constables to Transfer to West Midlands Police as a Video Imaging Police Officer.**

The Video Imaging Police Officer will provide technical assistance at scene or laboratory environment for the purpose of forensic recovery and analysis of Digital Video Media from crime scenes.

You will communicate verbal and written summaries of findings or provide guidance to Police Officers and Investigating Officers enabling review and informed decision making as to how to progress inquiries and if necessary evidential reports for the purpose of presenting evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Court. As Video Imaging Police Officer, you will write and deliver training and mentorship to colleagues of varying technical skill level to help them meet the competency levels as set out via national or local standards.

**Key responsibilities**
- To undertake the forensic recovery and analysis of Digital video media from crime scenes.
- Manage forensic exhibits to ensure continuity, confidentiality and security is maintained at all times
- Provide technical advice to Police officers, troubleshooting problems under pressure and providing advice on best practice
- Undertake video conversion work for the purpose of presenting evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and court.
- You will actively undertake research and development projects identifying new techniques and implementing them within the Laboratory
- keeping a breadth of the latest technological advances in imagery and the wider Digital forensic team.
- Provide tuition and mentorship to colleagues to enable them to meet required competency standards set at either a local or national level.

**Experience and skills**

Essential
- Possess a willingness to learn how to dismantle computers and/or safely handle digital devices for examination purposes
- Be knowledgeable and conversant with the ISO 17020 & 17025, Forensic Science Regulator standard and ACPO Principles of Digital Evidence
- Understanding of programming and/or scripting languages;
- Have attended and passed an accredited training course relevant to Digital Forensic examination of electronic device based evidence.

Desirable
- Cat B (Van) driving licence
- Experience and knowledge in performing inspection of digital devices or Digital Forensic examinations and the impact they have on investigations; and Have attended and passed an accredited training course relevant to Digital Forensic examination of electronic device based evidence

**Vetting**: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

**Medical**:Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
