**Level/Salary Range**:£22,660 - £27,855 per annum dependent on skills and experience

**Position**:Full time, permanent

**Hours of Work**:35hrs per week Mon-Fri

**Holidays **25 days holiday per year though some evening and plus statutory bank weekend work will be holidays and 5 closure required. days (Maundy Thursday & 4 over the Christmas/New year period).

**Overview and Job Purpose**:Wardley Hall, is the official residence of the Roman Catholic Bishops of Salford, and stands in a wooded estate in Worsley, some six miles west of Manchester. Parts of the present building date back to the mid-1500’s and the building is Grade 1 listed. Within Wardley Hall is the Laudato Si Centre, the Diocese’s flagship centre to care for our common home, with a mission to provide the tools and learning to enable all to hear and respond in hope to the cry of the earth and cry of the people. School and community programmes are delivered from the Laudato Si Centre, including wellbeing, horticulture and learning in nature.

The Gardener and Wellbeing Coordinator is required to tend to the grounds of the Hall, including the Laudato Si Centre (in accordance with seasonal needs) and support horticulture and wellbeing school and community programmes.

The Gardener and Wellbeing Coordinator will work alongside other members of staff at the hall. All staff are required to provide a warm and positive welcome to residents and visitors and to collaborate well with all other diocesan staff.

**Main Responsibilities**
- To ensure the grounds of the entire estate are maintained to a high standard including gardening in a manner that supports biodiversity and the environment, planning and ensuring successful planting in all the outdoor spaces (both formal and informal, and includes greenhouses and polytunnels), the regular collection of litter and sweeping of the property.
- To support the development and delivery of horticulture and wellbeing school and community programmes.
- To ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and welfare facilities.
- To assist where necessary with arrangements for conferences and events including moving of tables, chairs and other fixtures associated with events taking place within the Hall and Laudato Si Centre.
- To ensure that all waste is collected and removed to suitable storage locations and compliance with policies to care for our common home and improvement of environmental performance.
- To oversee stock control - maintaining appropriate levels of necessary supplies and materials ensuring strict controls are applied to ensure effective use of Diocesan resources.
- To comply with all relevant statutory Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including strict COSHH Regulations and to act as a Fire Warden in the event of an emergency.
- With other members of the housekeeping staff, contribute to ensuring the overall highest standards at the Hall.
- To support all staff to ensure the ongoing operation of the Hall as well as the Laudato Si Centre and ensure the effective stewardship of diocesan resources.
- To undertake other duties reasonably requested from time to time by the Bishop’s PA.
- When requested and by prior arrangement with the Head of Environment, to provide additional advice or support, commensurate with the general duties listed above, to parishes and schools across the Diocese.
- All employees are expected to ensure that any visitors are greeted warmly and suitably welcomed to the Hall.

**Data Protection**: Where it is a requirement of the role, the post holder will have access to computers and other information technology. He/she will be required to ensure that appropriate security procedures are followed and that confidential information such as passwords are not communicated to unauthorised individuals.
