**We are looking for an Outdoor Assistant to join our well-established family run Garden Centre, until the end of June 2023.**

**Hours: Monday - Friday, working 9am - 5pm. The position includes working some Bank Holidays.**

**Our Garden Centre is a family run business, serving local gardeners for over 50 years, with our York store opening in 1968 and our Scarborough store opening in 1986. We are proud of being a local family firm with strong roots in the local community.**

**About the Role ?**
- First and foremost, you will be part of a supportive, hardworking team.
- Liaise with the Outdoor Manager and Supervisor.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the outdoor sales area.
- Provide a friendly and efficient service to all our customers.
- Advise customers and answer their questions.
- Complete customer orders.
- Replenish and merchandise stock.
- Deadhead plants and provide other maintenance within the outdoor sales area.
- Assist with lifting heavy/bulky items.
- Carrying out cleaning and housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Collecting trolleys and shopping baskets.
- Assisting customers with carrying purchases to their car.

**About You**
- Be able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- Use equipment in a safe, effective and appropriate manner.
- Have a passion for delivering excellent customer service with a smile.
- Have a willingness to learn.
- Be able to work quickly, efficiently and under pressure, in a fast-paced environment.

- Be aware of Health and Safety matters and keep up to date with legislation and be prepared to undertake training that may be necessary due to new legislation.

- Be physically fit as heavy lifting is required and you will be on your feet all day.

- Willing to share product knowledge with the other colleagues.

**Ideally you will**
- Have retail experience and be confident in sharing your knowledge.
- Enjoy working outside in all weathers.
