We have an exciting vacancy for a qualified Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) to join our Adult Community Psychological Services in West Essex - centred on the towns of Harlow, Epping and Uttlesford.

Working alongside qualified Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Assistant Psychologists you will be part of the psychological services contribution to the locality multidisciplinary community mental health teams. This post will particularly focus on working with those who might attract a diagnosis of Personality Disorder and you will receive specialist supervision and training for this work. There will be the opportunity to provide evidence-based group and individual therapies.

There will be some requirement to work across the three bases and so own transport would be advantageous.

Clinical Associates in Psychology fill an identified skills gap between assistant psychologists and qualified psychologists. They are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice under the supervision of a registered practitioner psychologist, extending and developing their skills in their area of practice.

Working with adults of working age experience complex mental health difficulties, you will work alongside qualified psychologists to develop and provide group and individual therapies and to monitor and evaluate outcomes. We offer consultation, training and reflective practice sessions to MDT clinicians to support them to work effectively with people with complex needs who often present with high levels of risk, and you will be an important part of this programme.

The successful applicant will join our professional and friendly team of psychologists and psychological therapists who specialise in a range of models of therapy including CBT, CAT, EMDR, DBT, Family Therapy, DMP and CFT.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

**Under supervision CAPs**:
Provide assessment, formulation and intervention for complex clinical presentations, within their scope of practice.

Will make judgements about the needs of individuals, the identification of potential risks, and the possible requirement for more specialist assessment and treatment.

Will monitor their own effectiveness with each service user and/or the presenting problem to determine whether consultation or supervision from a colleague is required.

Will ensure referral to designated supervisor is promptly made when case complexity falls outside their own range of competency. Use a range of assessment measures and procedures that are compatible with service user presenting problems.
