We're recruiting a User Experience Designer to join our growing and supportive user-centred design community. You will be responsible for designing the best way for users to interact with services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design elements. You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams alongside user researchers, developers, service designers, product owners and others.

As a User Experience Designer, you will lead on our approach to enabling users to interact with all of our digital services in terms of overall flow and individual design elements. You will have an inclusive, user-centred approach and enjoy adapting and learning at pace.

As a confident and competent designer, you will work independently to develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes. You will have a community of design colleagues to access guidance and support when needed.

We're working in a hybrid way (predominantly remotely), spending time both home and office working. This position can be based from either of our offices in Greater Manchester or Newcastle upon Tyne.

**Job purpose**:
User experience designers will work within agile teams alongside researchers, analysts, developers, product managers and supporting staff,
delivering services that are relevant and useful to millions of users with a variety of needs and abilities. You will support the successful delivery of the
user experience through the design of customer journeys, wire framing, user research, and data visualisation.

**In this role, you are accountable for**:

- Understanding user needs and translate them into the design of products and services.
- Designing and prototyping user journeys, interfaces and interactions. Simplifying complex transactions and explaining clearly to non-designers the reasons for design choices.
- Working closely with user researchers to actively input to research plans, assist with testing and analysing research results.
- Working with designers to create a library of standard design patterns and promote its use across digital services.
- Supporting the identification and proposing of changes and sharing of good practices that can be adopted to drive design standards and ensure appropriate governance.
- Contributing to the development and continual enhancement of products.
- Following methods and standards to achieve a high level of user-friendliness in our products.
- Evaluating design proposals from external suppliers, and make recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team of software developers, testers and architects and support a culture focused on ensuring customer needs are met.
- Delivering designs that meet web standards, ensuring that key elements are built in from the outset.
- Presenting to a variety of stakeholders, in-depth information concisely within sprint reviews and lunch and learn sessions.
- Participating within Communities of Practice.
