**Vulnerable children in the UK need your help.**

Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

**Why Action for Children?**

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

**A bit about the role**

This is an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Practitioner to work across Merseyside. We have been successful in securing further funding from Wirral Local Authority, along with other funding streams to deliver a range of mental health and wellbeing interventions to children and young people.

The Blues and Bouncing Back programmes are evidenced-based CBT underpinned programmes that support the reduction of depression in children and young people using an early intervention model. We are looking for a motivated, fun, and energetic Practitioner who is committed to supporting young people's mental health.

You will be part of a UK-wide programme across Action for Children's four nations. The role will be based across our Merseyside cluster with regular travel to schools within the region.

Working in schools will give you the chance to do real life-changing work with children and young people aged between 8 and 18 years old. Not only will you be part of a super supportive and fun team, but you'll be working with young people where every day will be different You'll also be trained in how to deliver and facilitate the sessions, learning all the lingo of The Blues Programme so that your sessions really come to life.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

You'll need to be comfortable and confident to vibrantly lead the room and engage with young people, fielding any questions, comments or queries they have. You'll be quick-witted and able to lead the conversations, through adapting your approach to meet the needs of the young people. We're looking for someone to facilitate active engagement from the young people and promote an open and confidential forum. You will help by:

- Delivering group work to around 500 young people as year as a team.
- Giving young people skills in order to manage their own emotional wellbeing.
- Working in partnership with schools and colleges.

**Let's talk about you.**

In the role of Wellbeing Practitioner, we're ideally looking for someone who has:

- Level 3 Social Care qualification or willingness to work toward, fully supported and funded by us
- Experience of delivering evidenced-based programmes.
- Involvement of working with children and young people aged 8-18.
- A commitment to supporting young people's mental health and act as an ambassador for this.
- Access to a vehicle for travel across Wirral and Liverpool.

**Good to know.**

Application Process: There are five sections to complete: Personal Details, CV, Supporting Statement & Information, Equality & Diversity, Submission & Declaration.

Interview: Interviews are provisionally scheduled for the 14th of September '23 at our office in Liverpool.

**Diversity, equality and inclusion**

Male staff are under-represented within our Children Service roles. We would like to encourage more male applicants for our Children Service roles.
