To support the pharmacy team by ensuring that the administrative and stock control duties involved with immunoglobulins (IVIGs) are undertaken. Provide support to the pharmacy cancer team.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.

Administrative duties

Create/maintain a schedule of regular/long term immunoglobulin patients and identify when each is due a long-term review form completing for submission to the Sub-regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel (SRIAP)

Send review forms to clinicians at the appropriate time prior to SRIAP and ensure they are returned in a timely manner.

Where forms have been completed by hand, transcribe information into the electronic version of the form to allow electronic transmission to SRIAP administrator.

Using outcome data which has been completed on the SRIAP review forms, enter patient outcomes onto the national IVIG database.

**Upon receipt of SRIAP panel decision letters**:
Retain letter in the appropriate folder

Enter IVIG panel decisions onto the database.

Update JAC notes with panel decisions.

Register new patients on IVIG database upon receipt of the relevant Short-Term SRIAP request form.

Inputting of batch numbers of IVIGs dispensed onto the IVIG database

Inputting of batch numbers of IVIGs administered onto the IVIG database. Follow up paperwork not returned.

Deal with returns of IVIGs including database entry.

IVIG archiving

Liaise with blood bank around doses used out of hours and replenishment of stock.

Procurement and Stock Control

Ordering of IVIGs once a month using guide sheet

Ordering Rituximab once a week using guide sheet

Returning unused doses of Rituximab and trastuzumab from HDC

Assist with ordering of named patient cancer drug supplies

Assist with the daily headland rituximab/trastuzumab order

Assist with queries and processing of homecare requests/prescriptions for haematology and oncology patients

Cancer Services

Check and process unused chemotherapy products on the Headland unit.

Deal with unused TTA medicines on the Headland Unit aiding with their timely return if applicable or for retention for a subsequent visit if treatment has been deferred.

Assist with queries from headland on the whereabouts of medications

Carry out controlled drugs audits on Headland and Lowen ward

Returned controlled drugs from Lowen and Headland unit as required.

Undertake quarterly controlled drugs audits on Lowen and the Headland unit.

Deal with requests for new Aria accounts

Assist with the process for validation of new Aria regimens including preparation of validation paperwork, test patients and updating regimen spreadsheet.

Medical Day Unit and Blueteq

Assisting with the pharmacy co-ordination of the Medical Day Unit list including checking whether items have been prescribed/dispensed/ordered.

Where items have not been ordered liaising with prescribers to generate prescription

Communicating with Medical Day Unit staff on any issues that arise from the above.

Returning un-used medications from Medical Day Unit.

Completion of daily Blueteq reports - adding notes to patients’ JAC records, checking any discrepancies or conflicting blueteq requests.

Checking of patient blueteq status for Medical Day Unit patients, and if this is not complete liaising with Consultant to have this completed.
