Six Degrees are currently recruiting for a Linux Engineer to join the team.

The Linux engineer works within our support function within Operational Delivery and primary role within our 2 nd line support function. This role plays an important part in providing clients with Linux expertise, resolution of incident and requests andassist in helping to maintain business-critical systems across various scales. The engineer will work with an expanding range of Server technologies across private and public cloud and keen to develop their server skills, with a focus on Linux. Where possible,we are looking to utilise orchestration and automation to streamline and optimise management of client’s servers across multiple cloud platforms and infrastructure.

Six Degrees provides integrated managed services linking people, places and clouds and do this by leveraging our core capabilities and next generation network assets to deliver a fully integrated range of cloud, datacentre, connectivity and voice services.

To be considered for this role you will have proven experience working as a Linux Engineer, Systems Administrator or similar, and exposure to an MSP environment would be highly beneficial. A strong technical understanding in the following is highly desirable:

- Linux server OS management, including RHEL, CentOS, SUSE and Ubuntu. (RHCSA or LPIC-1 level).
- Virtualisation and Cloud technologies on Azure, VMware vSphere. (AZ-900 or VCA-DCV level).
- Good understanding of developing / debugging shell scripts (bash, ksh, perl)

Exposure to any of the following areas is beneficial, but not essential: - Other server technology such Windows Server 2012-2019 or Oracle Solaris 10+
- Linux Web server technologies (Apache, Tomcat, Nginx)
- Databases (MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL)
- Cloud backup technologies (Azure Backup Manager, Asigra, Commvault, Veeam)
- Automation with either Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Python or Bash scripting
- An understanding of networking, IP addressing, firewalling and public DNS
- Active directory, Group Policy deployment and general Windows management and troubleshooting experience
