We have an exciting opportunity for an admin/technical person to join the Facility Safety Section in the ISIS Health Physics & Facility Safety Group supporting all aspects of Health and Safety and Radiation Dosimetry Office administration across the ISIS facility and STFC.

ISIS is a large-scale scientific facility with the requirement to manage a vast range of hazards from Ionising Radiation, Chemicals, Biological, Electrical and Magnetic fields, Electromagnetic fields, Laser Systems, Pressure Systems, Cryogenics and Heavy Lifting.

The Facility Safety Section provides essential Health & Safety advice and support for ISIS operations. You will provide support in advising managers and staff on all aspects of occupational Health and Safety, help in the investigation of reported incidents or accidents, assist with risk assessments, disseminate Safety related information, arrange safety-related training, arrange and attend safety tours and inspections, administration of certain specific safety committees, producing reports for the ISIS Leadership Team and Department Safety Committees and interaction with dedicated Health and Safety management software.

ISIS produces radiation as a by-product of its operational activities; prompt radiation from high energy proton, neutron and muons beams, and the radiation and radioactive contamination from the activation of various solid materials, liquids and gases (airborne).

The Dosimetry Office manages the contract with the Approved Dosimetry Service, providing dosimetry support to STFC through passive personal badges, electronic personal dosimeters and extremity dosimeters to all staff, contractors, visitors and users. You will provide administration support for all these tasks, including the distribution and issuing of dosimeters, record keeping, collation of results, producing reports to managers, to RPAs (Radiation Protection Advisors) and various committees and liaison with our approved dosimetry provider.

This is also very much a customer-based role dealing with the Health and Safety and Dosimetry requirements of managers, RPAs, staff, users, contractors, and visitors face-to-face daily.

**Person Specification**

**The below criteria will be assessed at shortlisting and interview**
- A high degree of interpersonal skills, including good communication skills with a proven ability to work with others and provide a high customer service experience.
- Ability to work individually and within a small close team.
- A technical or administrative background with some experience in risk assessment and a knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation. HASAWA
- Documentation and administration skills and ability to maintain periodic reports.
- Ability to work safely under pressure and provide a professional approach and capacity for intensive work campaigns.
- Some experience working within a large-scale scientific facility and radiological controlled areas.
- Some experience in a Safety Advisor role. And some understanding of Health and Safety and radiological protection issues affecting high-energy (proton) accelerator facilities.
- Computer literate (Office365 (MS Office, Excel and SharePoint), and internet navigators).
