As part of a small team of fire safety professionals, this is a busy, varied and exciting role working with all departments on site, giving great opportunities to use and develop your skills to make a difference to UK science.

You will be required to:

- Write and maintain Fire Risk Assessments in buildings of various complexity
- Prepare and deliver fire safety training to all those involved in fire safety management
- Support the investigation of fires, fire false alarms and related fire incidents
- Provide specialist fire safety advice to those working on site and those involved in building modification, and the design and construction of new buildings
- Prepare and present reports and recommendations to safety committees on fire safety matters
- Establish working relationships with local fire and rescue and emergency services

**The following criteria will be assessed at Shortlisting**:

- Fire safety knowledge and experience with at least technician grade membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalents
- A working knowledge of current and forthcoming changes to UK Building Regulations and Fire Safety legislation
- Practical experience of undertaking fire risk assessments
- Proactive with a high degree of self-motivation and independence, able to deliver under pressure and against tight deadlines
