South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils operate three community centres on Great Western Park in Didcot. The District Community Centre is the largest of the three and acts as the main base for the Community Centres Team.

The centres offer multi-purpose spaces for hire and host a range of activities, classes and workshops, meetings, and events.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to assist and provide support to the duty officers and centre manager in the effective running of the venues, and who may occasionally be required to help at our other venues within the Arts and Community Centres Team.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

assisting with day-to-day operations, dealing with booking enquiries, and offering high quality customer service
assisting the duty officers with carrying out routine centre checks to meet health and safety requirements for the sites and ensure compliance with legislation and council procedures
processing booking forms and invoicing
raising purchase orders for centre services
Ensuring the internal and external areas are clean and tidy, and safety is maintained at all times
Setting up and clearing away of furniture and equipment in accordance with the Hirer requirements
set up of refreshments
assist in marketing and promoting the centres and activities

The duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or the level of responsibility and the post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.

**Your essential skills, knowledge and experience**

ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences, such as members of the public and internal colleagues
good IT skills and experience of electronic booking systems
ability to set up and operate laptops and audio-visual equipment
experience of working as part of a wider team, working effectively with varying styles and approaches
strong customer service skills including face to face delivery
ability to lift and carry equipment
an awareness of health and safety procedures, building operation processes, and risk assessments (preferably in relation to public buildings)
ability to organise and prioritise workload
previous work of a similar nature

**Your essential qualifications**

3 GCSE's at grades A - C, including English and Mathematics, or an equivalent level of qualification
If you have the following experience or qualifications - it's a bonus
first aid and fire warden training (or a willingness to undertake training and act as a first aider and fire warden)
experience of working in a local government setting
an understanding of food hygiene regulations
