**Job Description: Drug and Alcohol Support Worker**

**Position Overview**:
The Drug and Alcohol Support Worker provides assistance and support to individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. This role involves delivering non-clinical services to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, improve their overall well-being, and reintegrate into the community.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Client Assessment and Planning**:

- Conduct initial assessments to determine clients' needs, challenges, and goals.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with clients.
- **Support and Counselling**:

- Provide emotional and practical support to clients in one-on-one and group settings.
- Offer counselling and motivational interviewing to encourage positive behavioural change.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills to maintain sobriety.
- **Education and Awareness**:

- Educate clients on the risks and consequences of substance abuse.
- Provide information about available treatment options, resources, and support networks.
- Organize and facilitate educational workshops and group sessions on addiction recovery.
- **Referral and Collaboration**:

- Coordinate with healthcare professionals, social services, and other relevant organizations to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Assist clients in accessing medical treatment, detoxification services, and rehabilitation programs.
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare and social service systems.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes.
- Prepare and submit reports as required by funding bodies, regulatory agencies, and organizational policies.
- **Crisis Intervention**:

- Respond promptly to clients' crises and emergencies, providing immediate support and intervention as needed.
- Collaborate with emergency services and crisis teams to ensure clients' safety and well-being.
- **Community Outreach and Networking**:

- Engage with the local community to raise awareness about drug and alcohol addiction and available support services.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, including treatment providers, community organizations, and support groups.

**Qualifications**:

- A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with drug and alcohol addiction is desirable.
- Knowledge of addiction recovery principles, counselling techniques, and treatment options.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting clients.

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

Pay: £12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
