The HR Advisor is a new role for PACT and will be a standalone post reporting to the Head of Farm Operations. The role will however cover the farm, office, and shop operations of the Charity. The role will be based at the farm and just so there are no surprises, some of our cats and our peacocks roam free

The HR Advisor will ensure the smooth, efficient, and effective delivery of all aspects of people policies, processes and procedures including the HR and volunteer databases. They will support managers with absence, recruitment and selection, discipline, grievance, change management, TUPE, restructurings, job design and pay, policy advice, employment law and workforce planning. The role will as includes promoting health and well-being and the communication and engagement of employees and volunteers. They will be the first point of contact for all people related enquiries.

£16,800 (£28,000 FTE)

The key tasks and responsibilities of the role are:

- Lead the recruitment of operational staff and volunteers including advertisements, applicant screening, interviews, onboarding and right to work where appropriate.
- Oversee the induction of employees and volunteers in line with managers requirements
- Be responsible for ensuring that all appropriate checks are completed in a timely and efficient manner including Right to Work and DBS checks.
- Manage and accurately maintain the employee and volunteer databases and other records ensuring compliance with GDPR.
- Prepare and issue documents including job descriptions and employment contracts
- Develop and maintain the employee and volunteer handbooks ensuring all information is up to date and relevant.
- Provide support and prompts to supervisors and managers to ensure compliance with agreed practice, e.g probationary reviews, appraisals.
- Provide administrative support, advice, and guidance to managers at any employee meeting including but not limited to back to work interviews and formal meetings under the sickness and absence policy, disciplinary, capability and grievance hearings.
- Co-ordinate occupational health referrals and conduct return to work and absence review meetings when required.
- Support the resolution of employee relations issues, advising and guiding line managers on the appropriate actions.
- Deliver training to line managers on people policies and procedures.
- Regularly review and revise people policies and procedures and support with implementing new policies and procedures.
- Report on people metrics to support Charity activities and development
- Manage the annual people survey and any other people feedback mechanisms highlighting areas for improvement to support recruitment, retention, engagement and the health and wellbeing of staff and volunteers.
- Work closely with Charity colleagues to enable accurate payroll calculations, e.g. new starter information, leaver information, variation forms, unpaid leave.
- Support the line managers to identify and deliver effective training and development for all paid staff and volunteers and ensure this is coordinated and carried out and records are complete.
- Be the first point of contact for people related enquiries from all employees e.g. reasonable adjustments, flexible working requests.
- Support the development and delivery of an overarching people strategy with our external HR partner.
- Ensure the best use of our external HR contract including accessing advice as appropriate ensuring all requests are signed off by a senior manager.
- Continually develop effective HR processes and improved ways of working.
- Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation.

You will have:

- a GCSE or equivalent level education
- a Level 5 Human Resources qualification.
- 3 years experience in a similar HR role/s
- demonstratable experience of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- demonstrable experience of working within HR best practices and employment legislation
- membership of CIPD (desirable)
- 5 years experience in a similar HR role(desirable)
- experience of working within a Charity (desirable)
- experience of delivering wellbeing initiatives (desirable)
- experience of working to a project plan (desirable)
