Safety, Health and Environmental Coordinator

_**The Role**:_
Support the business with ensuring the business is carrying out its legal obligations to Health & Safety, and objectives aligned to drive best results for the site.
Provide Health & Safety support to the site including the preparation and management of site Risk Assessments for all current processes and involvement within any new processes or equipment to the site, Management of SSOW’s, Near Misses and investigations into all near misses and accidents and being pro-active in supporting the sites Health & Safety approach.
- **Key Responsibilities & Duties**:_
**Manager Support and Guidance**
Give appropriate advice and support on processes and procedures relating to all factory and non-factory related processes, guide the management teams on best practise and legal compliance for all safety related aspects of on-site procedures.
**Risk Assessments**
Develop and maintain a full list of Risk assessments for the site, including identifying gaps and being proactive around reviewing of the site RA’s working closely with all departments at full and up to date assessments at all times.
**Accidents/Near Misses/Incidents**
Ensure that all records are completed relating to incidents, near misses and accidents on site, in a timely manner. Recording of all data relating to site safety incidents, near misses and accidents. Analysis of the Root Causes and recommendations and follow up of actions to ensure there are no reoccurrences of the incident/accidents. Help with the preparation of reports for the monthly Health & Safety meeting and support site visits for external and internal audits.
**Facilitation and Coordination of Training**
Work closely with training department to ensure all training is organised and facilitated in a timely manner, including inductions, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, FLT, First Aid, Fire Marshal, chemical handling and safety. etc.
Ensure all safety related training is recorded and updated in a timely manner by the health & safety and Training teams in line with Health & Safety and site requirements.
Work with all managers and supervisors to create visibility of the skills within their own departments and for their individual direct reports.
**SSOW & SOP’s**
Create and update instructions for the relevant departments upon request and in line with Health & Safety standards, ensuring that all relevant people are trained and assessed against these instructions. Ensure all procedures for the correct use of and care of equipment and materials for the site are in line with all regulations and manufacturer’s instructions.
**Data Reporting**
Ensuring all safety KPI data is up to date support the factory teams in delivery of key Health and Safety KPI’s, including factory tours.
Coordination and engagement of the Site Health & Safety Team - including preparing reports, presentations.
- **Person Specification**:_
- Previous experience of working within a Health & Safety and role, ideally qualified but not essential.
- Minimum of 3 years background within Food Manufacturing would be advantageous.
- Be proactive in managing all elements of Health & Safety and work closely with production and technical teams to reach common goals for the site in all elements of compliance.
- To have a flexible working approach and be able to self-manage time effectively within a role which requires repetitive tasks.
- Be proactive in looking for solutions to improve any working area or practise including internal processes within the department.
- **Skills Required**:_
- Knowledge of SSOW, SOP’s, Health & Safety and Risk Assessments processes.
- IT skills essential - In particular, Excel knowledge such as formulas, pivot tables etc.
