**ROLE RESPONSIBILITY**:
**PRISON CUSTODY OFFICER - PHYSICAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR**
**HMP FIVE WELLS, WELLINGBOROUGH, NN8 2NG**

- G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and residents feel safe.
- We are looking for individuals suited to the specific role of Physical Education Instructor, ideally with a Level 2 Gym Instructor Qualification, to join the Activities Function at HMP Five Wells. There is no requirement for you to have any custodial experience as we offer full training as this is an operational PCO role that requires additional, specialised Physical Education Instructor training.
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**:
- You must be passionate about your field and want to inspire and encourage others to make meaningful changes to their lives whilst in custody. You will support and drive our Healthy Lifestyle Campaign that encourages our residents to actively engage in physical activity, utilising and maximising on all tools that a new build establishment has to offer. This will not only include our large gym but urban gyms in the yard spaces and multi-use games areas to increase sports activities.
- The people in your care will have a variety of different needs and it will be your role to ensure those individuals are treated with dignity and respect and helped to find a new way of life whilst maintaining a safe, secure and structured environment.

- Your initial training lasts for 9 weeks, where you will receive comprehensive training, which includes Control & Restraint, First Aid, Interpersonal skills and Health & Safety, along with a 2 week shadowing period. You will then be supported with additional training specific to the positionto support and develop you when in your role.
- As you will be a PCO-badged officer, operationally you will be expected to support the wider prison, which will include being cross-deployed to other areas when required.
- G4S Care and Rehabilitation Services is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and adults at risk and each employee is expected to support these goals.
- You must be eligible to work in the UK and must have been resident in the UK for a minimum period of 3 years. You will also need to provide full details of your employment and education history for the last 5 years as part of the security screening process for this role.
