**Job summary**:
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the independent regulator for work-related health and safety. Our purpose is to prevent workplace death, injury or ill health and protect the environment.

Great Britain has one of the lowest rates of fatal and non-fatal work-related injury across Europe. We have seen real progress in how businesses understand and control workplace safety risk and we have well-established standards for safety, recognised and understood by industry. These have helped to reduce death and major injury, particularly in construction and manufacturing however this isn’t the same for work-related ill health

A crucial part of our mission to protect people and places is to reduce work-related ill-health, and we have one role available in the Respiratory Health Policy Team working with colleagues on the area of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Regulations which is vital in supporting this objective.

You will work closely with your colleagues to deliver the key responsibilities of the post. You will be flexible and able to respond to changing work priorities at pace, which will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge. In all that you do you will be proactive, innovative and focused on delivering HSE’s business, as well as able to plan and prioritise your work. You will be required to provide support on both a local and national basis according to business need and able to work both as part of a team and autonomously.

The role may be made permanent at the end of the two years Fixed Term Appointment.

**Job description**:
**Key Responsibilities**
- Providing administrative support across a policy team to support different priorities, contributing effectively as a team member.
- Providing support to different stakeholder meetings or events, such as arranging the meeting, taking minutes and following up actions.
- Working with colleagues to accurately process agreed updates to online guidance.
- Keep accurate records, updating HSE’s case management system.
- Input and process data on to the computer systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail at all times, drawing conclusions from this data to make sound decisions.

Part time working hours are available for this role. We can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours (4 days) per week.

Essential criteria required for this role:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information in a clear and concise way.
- Analytical skills to digest and interpret information from a range of sources.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to plan your work
- The ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships
- Ability to log and record information appropriately in the correct systems.
- You will be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office Packages including: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
