The Acute Services Directorate is seeking to appoint a Clinical Lead for emergency medicine.

This post will augment a team of medical clinical leads to support the delivery of a whole system approach to person centred scheduled and unscheduled care.

The post holder will provide, leadership and management support to their specialty, as a member of the wider Directorate Clinical Management Team. The key deliverables of these posts include supporting the medical workforce, in particular the trainee workforce, to deliver the objectives agreed in the Board’s Healthcare strategy as outlined in the Local Delivery Plan. The post holder will also ensure that the relevant policies and guidance are adhered to in respect of leave, rotas and job planning.

The Clinical Leads will participate in the wider whole system working taking forward system objectives as agreed with the Medical Director and Associate Medical Directors.

As a member of the Directorate Management team, the Clinical Lead will work collaboratively to provide support in the day to day running of his/her area of responsibility.

Key results areas will include performance management, clinical leadership, clinical quality, quality improvement, risk management and service management of specialty. Specifically, the Clinical Lead will:

- Provide leadership in conjunction with Clinical Director/Service/Department Managers.
- Work collaboratively to ensure effective multi disciplinary working within the service to deliver improved:

- Clinical performance
- Financial performance
- Operational performance
- Ensure the annual job planning process is supported and that team discussions are prioritised.
- Take responsibility for junior doctor contract of employment compliance.
- Ensure Junior Doctor rota, timetable, annual leave, teaching and training issues are delivered whilst in specialty.
- Work collaboratively with specialty clinical governance lead to deliver clinical governance.
- There will be opportunities for leadership development training and support.
