**Job Purpose**
The College of Social Sciences Student Experience Team (SET) is seeking an innovative individual to coordinate activity aimed at improving student outcomes and supporting successful student transitions into, and through, university.
The College of Social Sciences SET supports the entire student journey, from induction and retention, through academic literacies, and employability skills development. The SET Transitions Coordinator will support the College in meeting its strategic aims relating to student progression, retention and success, and will contribute to the ongoing development of On Track; an early intervention initiative aimed at enhancing student retention, agency, and success through 1:1 coaching, group workshops and reflective activities.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. To support the ongoing development and delivery of SET transitions activity including coordinating the On Track programme.
2. To design and develop blended learning resources and reflective activities as part of SET transitions activity.
3. To work in partnership with Schools to develop activities and community-building initiatives to foster inclusion and student belonging in the College.
4. To utilise a range of data insights including student analytics, student and colleague feedback, wider trends, and sector best practice, to identify opportunities for new SET transitions activity, in line with College and University strategic aims.
5. To work in partnership with SET Strand Leads, SET Skills Programme Coordinator, and SET Engagement Coordinator (new post) to evaluate SET provision with a view to addressing barriers to participation and increasing engagement of underrepresented groups of students.
6. To work alongside SET colleagues in the expansion of embedded SET provision e.g. to seek opportunities for partnership with academic colleagues to embed SET provision within credit-bearing courses and support enhancement of core learning and teaching.
7. To assist the College Retention and Transitions Officer, and Associate Dean, in the delivery of innovative, scalable, measurable solutions to support student transitions, retention, and success.
8. To develop and maintain positive relationships with key academic and professional services colleagues across the University to ensure effective partnership working, the promotion of good practice, and to avoid duplication of activity.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**
A1 SCQF Level 9, Degree, VQ level 4 or equivalent or postgraduate/professional qualification with relevant formal training OR the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this role through experience in a similar position.
A2 Knowledge of coaching and/or mentoring approaches in supporting goal setting and personal development A3 An understanding of issues relating to student transitions, retention, and success in UK higher education, including barriers to participation; this may be through your own lived experience.

**Desirable**
B1 An understanding of issues relating to employability, skills development, and /or student learning within UK higher education.
B2 A knowledge of the functionalities of Virtual Learning Environments [VLE], including Moodle, and other relevant online learning platforms.

**Essential**
C1 Excellent and confident oral communicator, including presentation and group facilitation skills.
C2 Excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and tailor your approach appropriately.
C3 Ability to produce creative learning materials to support successful student transitions.
C4 Ability to deal professionally, sensitively and tactfully with students in one-to-one and group settings.
C5 Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
C6 Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders including other professional services colleagues, academic colleagues, and students.
C7 Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and complete work with mínimal supervision and to agreed deadlines. C8 Ability to work proactively and to use initiative and judgement.

D1 Course design & delivery skills.

**Experience**

**Essential**
E1 Experience as a mentor or coach working with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
E2 Experience of organising and running events such as workshops, seminars and/or information sessions with Q&As.
E3 Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating either: formal learning and/or skills development.
E4 Experience of utilising insights from multiple data sources to inform decision-making.
