An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Older People & Stroke services in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, creative and compassionate individual who has an interest in working as an Activities Coordinator within Older People Services at Gartnavel General Hospital.

The role of the Activity Coordinator is wide and varied and will support the delivery of care under the direction of NMC registered nurses. The post holder will assist the team in delivering care and organising structured, meaningful and therapeutic activities to aid the rehabilitation of patients. You will assist patients with all activities of living, assist the Registered Nurse and where appropriate other members of the Clinical Team to deliver patient care and assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of patients’ social/leisure interventions. This may include moving and handling, assisting wheelchair use, use of hoists and personal care needs specific to the client group. 

You should have the ability to fulfil the requirement of the job description including undertaking HCSW programme, the ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team, effective written and verbal communication skills/literacy/numeracy skills and the ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.

The successful candidate should be committed to the provision of high quality, patient focused care; have a flexible approach to service needs and a genuine interest in working with older adults within an inpatient ward setting. The successful candidate should have the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a care team and be confident enough to use own initiative. Previous experience within the health and care settings is desirable.

The shift pattern is  37hr over 7 days. However individual requirements can be discussed.
