The Head of Administration is the most senior professional services role within the Department of Psychology, with overall responsibility for all professional services staff and delivery of key services across the department. Working closely with the Head of Department and senior leadership team to advise, review, create, and drive the strategic priorities of the department, identifying and successfully managing complex agendas/policies/initiatives within the University's structure to balance the needs of individuals, teams, the Department, School and University. The role requires close collaboration with other departments in the School of the Biological Sciences, and with colleagues in the university's central administration to deliver high levels of service. The Department is one of the world's leading psychology departments with an exceptional record of research and teaching in all areas of psychology. It currently holds over 70 active research grants with an approximate value of £33M. The Department introduced a new undergraduate Tripos in 2012, the Psychological and Behavioural Sciences Tripos, which has proved extremely popular.

The Department is based in four buildings across the Downing Site and New Museums site, in addition to staff based at the Innes Building in West Cambridge and the Sub-Department of Animal Behaviour at Madingley. The Department also houses a well-used Library and the SBS Electronics Workshop. The Department currently has exciting estates projects in progress across its sites with various stakeholders.
