**Location**:The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement, although there is an expectation that 80% of your time will be spent working across 2 of our larger operational WWTW sites from where your team(s) operate in Leeds and York. **Please note** the site you will be based at, will be determined by your home location. A full UK driving license (with no more than 6 points) is an essential requirement of this role, with the ability to travel between sites.

**Who are we looking for?**

We are currently recruiting for a **Compliance Optimiser** to support our Waste Services Manager in ensuring Yorkshire Water are compliant with all permitting requirements across the imported Waste Asset base, amounting to 22 sites. You will manage compliance of WTNS and other waste related documentation, ensuring delivery of routine and investigational samples in relation to imported waste services.

Our **Compliance Optimiser** will also be required to interrogate samples to visually inspect for abnormalities, colour, excess solids, turbidity, viscosity, unusual odour and to liaise with customers in a timely fashion, should any issues be identified.

**What will you be doing?**

As our Compliance Optimiser, you will be working with operational sites to ensure they are operating the autosamplers, delivering the required level of sampling to meet our standards. Co-ordinating the scheduling and sampling of the imported waste sampling programme, you will provide Wamitab coverage for an allocated number of sites and assist with investigations of any suspect loads. You will also:

- Complete compliance audits on waste facilities and individual customers
- Work with operations to ensure imported waste has no adverse effect on, permits and consents.
- Assist investigations in site FE triggers and ensure there is no detrimental impact of waste imports, supporting with RCAs where required (e.g. FE, flow, OSM)
- Act as the ‘on site’ rep where required to maximise income for the team as well as acting as Customer Manager for key accounts importing into their sites
- To book loads and monitor discharges into their allocated sites.
- Communicate with customers re: sample results and issues on site, identifying opportunities for increasing imported waste income
- Build excellent working relationships with customers, processing samples and returning updates to customers in a timely manner
- Manage imported waste customers through the origination process, from receiving samples to inductions
- Drive excellent standards and performance in Health and Safety, risk management and control of work, always ensuring compliance with our Safety Policy
- Manage compliance of WTNS and other waste related documentation, producing performance reports as required whilst managing your own work commitments
- Act within the regulatory framework whilst demonstrating a sound understanding company processes and procedures.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**

**Essential**:
As our **Compliance Optimiser**, you will possess a strong service mentality, understanding the importance and benefits of providing both internal and external customers and colleagues with an exceptionally high level of helpful and attentive service. With proven experience of working to Health and Safety Management Systems, you will have the ability to deal with sampling resource allocation, whilst maintaining 100% compliance on sampling. You will also:

- Be able to produce simple visual reports to present to stakeholders and the team
- Be analytical and proficient in key IT systems, with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrate proven experience of delivering against challenging business targets, with the ability to deliver results through others
- Have previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment
- Participate in team meetings, deliver updates and training where required, being able to work flexibly and deliver results
- Develop and maintain effective strong internal and external relationships
- Strive for continuous improvement across the service whilst demonstrating a positive, can-do attitude.

**Desirable**:

- WAMITAB qualified as a TCM or be willing to work towards the qualification
- Knowledge of the waste sector or previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors / within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors
- Knowledge of typical STW/STF asset bases
- An understanding of wastewater treatment proc
