**Job description**

We are looking for a motivated individual to work in partnership with other conservation bodies, landowners and local communities to deliver a shared vision for the Tees Estuary as an exemplar for nature conservation, with thriving habitats, plant communities and populations of birds and animals, and which underpins sustainable economic growth and business investment in the area. The Tees Estuary Recovering Nature Project (TERN) aims to create a local network of wildlife-rich places, expanding, improving and connecting these spaces across the Tees Valley area. TERN aims to:

- Act as a pilot for nature recovery within the much larger landscape scale of the Tees Valley and be a springboard for a more ambitious, holistic project that will encompass external funding.
- Improve, create and restore natural habitats for the benefit of wildlife including for feeding and roosting waders and wildfowl and in doing so adding value for the special interest features of the Special Protection Area (SPA), National Nature Reserve( NNR) and Special Sites of Scientific Interest (SSSI).
- Develop greater connectivity between existing green infrastructure through the creation of new footpath links.
- Significantly increase community engagement.
- Aim to create a super coastal NNR and strengthen Teesside as a thriving place for people and nature and enable a cohesive approach towards management and climate change.
- Provide habitat enhancement opportunities that can underpin growth and provide environmental, economic and social outcomes linked to ‘Levelling Up’ and putting the environment at the heart of this.
- Build opportunities to embed delivery of new legislation within local strategic plans e.g., biodiversity net gain, green infrastructure, climate change mitigation, accessible greenspace provision.
- Strengthen collaborative working in the area.
