The National Education Union is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.

We are now seeking to recruit a Senior Officer on a job-share basis for three days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) to join our team in the Northern region, in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity to be a crucial part of the regional management team of the National Education Union.

As a member of the regional management team and working to the Regional Secretary, they will manage a small team of staff and have responsibility for the assessment and allocation of casework, assist in strategic regional planning, support members’ recruitment work and also assist in the delivery of the training programme in the region.

To be successful in this role, applicants will need to have solid knowledge of trade union organising, employment practices and also have a good understanding of the NEU’s political, educational and legal context, confidently representing the Union externally to a range of different audiences.

In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including a non-superannuable luncheon allowance currently set at £1308, 35 days annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme. The salary and stated benefits can be calculated on a pro-rata basis, to three days per week.
