**Job description**:
The Accessibility Officer will play a key role in delivering GDS’s legal obligation to monitor digital accessibility across the public sector. The post holder will help manage the casework of the service, administering the tools for automated accessibility testing, conducting simple accessibility checks against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and processing recommendations and correspondence.

The post holder will also field queries from the public sector, contributing to discussions about accessibility standards, best practice and implementations.

The post holder will support the team in creating and updating accessibility guidance and documentation to help delivery teams across the public sector increase their accessibility capability and meet their legal obligations, and will support the Senior Accessibility Specialists.

As a Accessibility Officer at GDS you'll:

- correspond with public sector bodies and equality enforcement bodies about monitoring, accessibility statements and web accessibility and keep our case information up to date
- review public sector websites for conformance with accessibility standards using automated testing and some manual testing and produce reports
- compare accessibility statements with findings from accessibility testing
